All about DJ of 69 started 1984 in Leverkusen

First steps

It was the spring of 1984 when I stood behind the decks for the very first time—in the cellar of a youth center in Leverkusen. More than 100 guests celebrated in the “Phonothek,” dancing to Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” and Queen’s “I Want to Break Free”. That 7-inch vinyl of Queen was the very first record I played in front of an audience—on a tangential turntable, I think a Technics SL7. The turntables were barely usable for mixing. Touching the record while it played? Impossible.

But none of that mattered. The happiness of creating music—and the emotions it can spark in people—has always been at the heart of my work. I’ve never been a DJ to hide behind a cap and stare at the floor; I want to see the crowd, feel their energy, and share the moment with them. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to experience so many unforgettable moments on the dancefloor.

Music & Ibiza

Ibiza has had a significant musical influence on me. I've spent a lot of time on this lovely white island. In 2017, I played at the Club Hush in Ibiza, based in Sant Antoni. I was also part of the Ibiza Radio Show on WideLine Radio and Sky Radio in 2017 & 2018. This show is broadcast live from the Mambo Studio in Ibiza, directly above the world-famous Cafe Mambo. In 2019, I played Poolside sessions at Destino Pacha Resort Ibiza, Playa Sol Mare Nostrum, New Algarbe & Jabeque. Since 2019, Ibiza Global Radio has been broadcasting some of my sets.

I've had the privilege to share an least and only the stage with some of the biggest DJs in the world, from David Guetta to the king himself, Carl Cox! Unfortunally not at the same time ;-). Over the years I've met many other great people & DJs in Ibiza.

musical style

Back in the 1980s, my musical style was all about what made people move—what was truly danceable in the German TOP 75/100 charts. The energy of the crowd, the beats that got everyone on their feet—that was my world.

In the 1990s, my sets became a journey through Eurodance, with pulsating tracks by Dr. Alban, La Bouche, Culture Beat, Snap, Robin S, and more. It was a time when music was colorful, infectious, and impossible not to dance to.

One of the highlights of that era was playing at Pacha Opladen, a small but legendary club that acted as an unofficial extension of the iconic Pacha in Ibiza. The famous “two cherries” logo adorned everything—from the dancefloor itself to the slipmats on the SL1200s. Every night was electric, the energy of Ibiza captured in a cozy German setting.

My record boxes were always packed with House music that reflected the true spirit of Pacha Ibiza. I loved spinning Deep House and Organic House, funky and soulful tracks, Downtempo, ChillOut, and of course, the timeless classics of the 80s and 90s. Each set was more than just music—it was a story, a mood, a shared experience on the dancefloor.
